2026 Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP)

Opportunity Information

Title
2026 Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP)
Description
In June of 2022, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) was signed into law, with the goal of reducing firearm-related violence. The Act created the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP), focused on gun violence and the programs and initiatives that target the risk factors that are likely to lead to this kind of violence. The Montana Board of Crime Control (MBCC) is soliciting proposals for the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP) , to be funded by the Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance. This program furthers the U.S. Department of Justice’s mission by assisting state, local, and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence, with a particular focus on gun violence and the programs and initiatives that target the risk factors that are likely to lead to this kind of violence. The application process is competitive. Approximately $940,000 will be available during the project period, depending upon availability of federal funds. Because federal funds are not always available immediately following the award date, applicants should prepare for this contingency.
