Title
2022 Delinquency Prevention Program (DPP)
Description
The Montana Board of Crime Control (MBCC) is soliciting proposals for Delinquency Prevention Program Grants to be funded by U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). MBCC’s Delinquency Prevention Program provides funding to prevent delinquency among at-risk and justice-involved youth using evidence-based restorative justice methods, coordination of care, and mentoring. Program staff will assess the strengths and needs of youth participants and develop individualized treatment/prevention plans designed to reduce risk factors and support protective factors for delinquency. Programs will at a minimum use the Montana Experiences and Expressions Screener (EES) to identify youth needs and refer participants to additional services as needed. MBCC encourages programs to develop supplemental questions to identify existing strengths and protective factors among youth and their families. Restorative interventions such as victim-offender mediation, peacemaking circles, and family group conferencing will be provided to youth referred for legal violations, school infractions, or other risk factors when appropriate. MBCC will arrange restorative justice training for program staff. Applicants should prepare for staff time and travel costs to attend a 2-3 day training.
Only units of local government (cities, counties, and school districts) are eligible to apply. MBCC strongly encourages applicants to collaborate with other stakeholders while planning and implementing the program. Successful applicants will address specific barriers facing communities under one or more of MBCC’s priority areas and demonstrate continuous sustainability efforts.
The application process is competitive. Previous funding does not guarantee an award during this funding cycle. Approximately $895,011 will be available during the project period, depending upon availability of federal funds. MBCC anticipates awarding a minimum of two programs.
